English Language Arts
Local reading data is collected three times a year, focusing on Spring Data of second through eighth grade students. Second through eighth grade students are assessed using SCANTRON: Performance Series that is a computer-adaptive test that lets you quickly pinpoint the proficiency level of your students across a range of subjects that correspond with the specific standards of the State of Michigan. Kindergarten through second grade is assessed using DIBELS-The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS), which are a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Math
Local math data is collected three times a year, focusing on Spring Data of second through eighth grade students. Second through eighth grade students are assessed using SCANTRON. Performance Series, which is a computer-adaptive test that lets you quickly pinpoint the proficiency level of your students, across a range of subjects. Kindergarten and First Grade math data is collected using locally developed math assessments. Professional Learning Communities provide staff time to review student assessment results.
Science
The school has been using the Battle Creek Science kits for the last two years and has seen significant gains in science grades. Staff in grades 1-8 can identify students needing additional assistance in science based on the report card data.
Social Studies
The Academy recently purchased McGraw Hill Social Studies Program, and has seen significant gains in social studies grades. Staff in grades 1-8 can identify students needing additional assistance in social studies based on the report card data.
