Curriculum
Benton
Harbor Charter School Academy staff develops, implements, and evaluates
curriculum annually. The process used to develop and implement curriculum in
each of the core areas includes using the Kent County Curriculum Crafter Tool
for aligning the State standards to the local curriculum documents.
Professional Learning Community teams (which are grade level teams) meet once a
week to discuss curriculum, instruction and assessments. The process used to
evaluate curriculum documents is based on student achievement data. If student
progress is low, instructional strategies and/or assessments are revised. Choice Schools also provides a
Curriculum Director to assist staff in designing, implementing, and evaluating
curriculum. Staff will develop an assessment schedule for progress monitoring
of student achievement a minimum of 3 times a year.
